CHAPTER V

SEAL THE DEAL

Setting powders and sprays are both crucial for prolonging makeup wear and perfecting the glam.

Setting powders, typically applied after liquid or cream products, absorb excess oil, mattify the skin, and prevent creasing, providing a smooth canvas. Setting (or fixing) sprays, used as a final step, lock all makeup layers into place, preventing smudging, fading, and transferring, while also helping to "melt" powders into the skin for a more natural, less powdery look, with various formulas offering matte, dewy, or natural finishes. Together, they ensure longevity and a polished appearance.

Types of Powders:

Highlighting powder adds shimmer to accentuate specific areas like cheekbones and directly under the eyes, while setting powder, typically translucent, locks in liquid or cream products to prevent creasing and prolong wear.

Fixing powder, often used interchangeably with setting powder, also helps with longevity but may offer a more blurring effect.

Use setting powder after applying foundation and concealer to avoid movement, cut your jawline using this powder. Highlighter on top of your base makeup to emphasize features, and fixing powder as a final step for a polished look.

* Plan to carry this one around in your bags, if you’re into touching up throughout the day.
