“Let Her sleep, for when She wakes, She will Move Mountains"
I woke up Sunday, June 8th, with an expectation.
I envisioned a relaxed "sister circle" — a table full of entrepreneurial "mumbo jumbo" and sassy chatter. But Girl, what I received instead was a seismic focus in my perspective, a shot of pure, unadulterated motivation, and a clear sign that God was speaking directly to my spirit!
Heaven, Cameo, and I - pictured at the Rise-Up Womanpreneur Conference.
Just to give you a little background tea, this revelation began with a new friend, Heaven <3.
We connected through me working retail, and from the moment we met, it was clear our energy was familiar with one another. Perhaps it's our shared Scorpio placements (though I'm an Aquarius sun, that deep, intuitive understanding runs strong between us!), because we see eye-to-eye on so much. When she invited me to the Rise-Up Womanpreneur conference earlier this month, I didn't hesitate. I called off both jobs, immediately.
Naturally, I pop out armed with my business cards and, of course, performed a complimentary glam session for Heaven – partly as a thank you for the invite, and partly because, well, she makes a stunning walking advertisement for my provision of makeup services!
At the Grand Sheraton Nashville, I found myself in rooms filled with strong, resilient women of all races, shapes, and backgrounds - and a blasting air conditioning system. My interactions were consistently inspiring, but two encounters really stood out for me. Connecting with Cameo Bobo, a Nashville TV personality and artist, was an absolute delight. She’s actually Heaven’s mentor, and her energy was infectious, because her passion for her craft was so admirable.
Then there was Nashay Lowe, the brilliant mind behind "The Resolution Room" podcast. We met at lunchtime, giving us the perfect opportunity to connect separately and extend our networks. Her personality is simply darling, I was shocked she wasn’t already a speaker in the event, but I’m genuinely excited to explore more of her work and insights.
These women, and so many others, were living proof of what happens when dedication meets divine purpose. A speech by Meghan Carew, the supervisor of a Women's Emergency Shelter and the visionary behind Grace's Door, left an indelible mark. Meghan’s initiative and her unwavering commitment to supporting women in dire circumstances stirred something deep within me. With my own passion for healing the hearts of domestic violence victims, her words resonated with a profound intensity.
It was a powerful reminder of the impact one person, guided by purpose, can have on the lives of others. The sheer grit and compassion woven into the fabric of Grace's Door sparked a lil fire in my soul, pushing me to reflect on how I can better align my gifts with service to those who need it most.
All the mental gold I soaked up that day — the inspiring conversations, the powerful testimonies, the undeniable spirit of resilience – really weighed heavy on my soul.
So girl, I woke up that next morning in tears, and resigned from my new position at Crate & Barrel.
This wasn't a choice made lightly, but it was a decision I believe will satisfy my spirit and get me at least one step closer to walking in the purpose God intends for me.
It underscored the vital importance of discernment – of truly listening to that quiet nudge, that undeniable pull, that tells you when it’s time to take a bet, not just on yourself, but on the divine plan unfolding before you.
Because you know I love to refer back to my favorite scripture:
Proverbs 31:25 beautifully states, "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." This conference was a testament to that strength, that resilience, inherent in women, especially when fueled by faith. And for me, the vision of a woman who has the time and mental sanctuary to not only support her household but her family with grace and wisdom, speaks volumes in Proverbs 31:27: "She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness." This is the legacy I aspire to build, rooted in purpose and guided by God's unwavering hand.
This journey is just beginning, and I’m ready to see where faith, discernment, and a whole lot of grit will lead me next.
I’ve also decided to include a literal screenshot of my messy iPad notes from that day, because me and Heaven did end up going on a cute little lunch date to exchange notes, thoughts, and ideas… So maybe you’ll find inspiration there too.
